Every week, there are 180 evictions in Durham. It’s a surprisingly high number – and many of them require intervention from the sheriff’s office.
Our reporter Niharika Vattikonda rode along with Deputy Michael Wood on “padlock Friday,” the day when deputies assist landlords with evictions. As Wood said, it can be a day filled with surprises. “You don’t know what’s behind the door. You don’t know what’s in there. You have no idea.”
