McDougald Terrace residents keep pushing to keep city focused on housing crisis

Displaced McDougald Terrace residents weren’t listed on the latest Durham City Council agenda. But they made sure their voices were heard.

That was the latest move by public housing residents to keep city officials focused on all they are contending with after inspectors found unsafe conditions in their Durham Housing Authority community.

Many residents were moved to local hotels with limited access to healthy meals or play spaces for children.

9th Street reporter Bella Hutchins describes how residents and allies pushed City Council members and Mayor Steve Schewel to keep listening to their concerns here.
