Durham voters will select three city council members on Nov. 5 from a field of six incumbents and challengers.
Youngest on the ballot is Joshua Gunn, age 35. A political newcomer, Gunn has landed the support of some veteran city leaders, including former mayor Bill Bell.
A hip hop musician who recruits businesses for the local Chamber of Commerce, Gunn carries a portfolio of complaints about incumbents to candidate events.
He dislikes their handling of some of Durham’s biggest problems, including shrinking access to affordable housing, a recent spike in violent crime and limited doors to decent paying jobs.
9th Street reporter Caroline Petrow-Cohen shares Gunn’s dreams for Durham here.
