RDU sets passenger traffic records in June and July

Raleigh-Durham International Airport set consecutive records for passenger traffic in June and July.

Officials said traffic hit a monthly high in June with more than 1.4 million passengers. That record was short-lived, as 1.5 million passengers traveled through RDU in July.

The increase in traffic was driven partly by the Independence Day holiday, with nearly 329,000 passengers traveling between July 1 and July 7. That marked an increase of 9.5% when compared to the same period in 2023.

The airport also announced that Breeze Airways will begin nonstop service to Sarasota-Bradenton in November and Daytona Beach in February 2025. The Sarasota route will operate Mondays and Fridays, and flights to Daytona Beach will take place on Thursdays and Sundays. Breeze will also add a route to New Haven on Mondays and Fridays starting in February.
