Sunday was an ideal day for the Durham Bulls’ last home game. Nearly 7,000 fans came to see Wool E. Bull, catch some free T-shirts and enjoy the mild sunny weather.

They also watched some great baseball. The Bulls beat the Nashville Sounds, 7-2, but most of the fans probably won’t remember the score. They came for the hoopla—the hot dogs and the peanuts and, in the case of the kids, a final chance to run the bases.

It was an ideal afternoon for the last game of summer—84 degrees with a light wind from the third base line. The Bulls did not make the playoffs this year, but they finished strong at home thanks to two-run homers by Jared Oliva and Jake Fraley.

The fans also saw a strong performance from Wool E. Bull, the Greatest Mascot in the World. Wool E. ended the season by signing autographs, posing for photos and high-fiving kids after the game.

The Bulls will be back on Friday, March 26.
