Durham restaurant owners carve new paths to cope with coronavirus

When Gov. Roy Cooper shut down restaurant dining rooms in March, owners had to quickly choose between converting to take-out fare or posting Closed! signs.

But the story doesn’t stop there. Since Cooper announced his emergency order, Durham restaurant owners found new ways to stay connected to their customers and Durham.

9th Street Journal reporter Caroline Petrow-Cohen describes how Josh DeCarolis of Mothers & Sons has adapted and innovated in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

Renée Weisz shows how Happy + Hale CEO Tyler Helikson has so far found a way to hang on and give back.
