The long-awaited Wheels Durham roller skating rink at Merrick-Moore Park is inching closer to an expected opening in early 2025, according to the city’s parks and recreation department.
The finishing touches are being put on the new rink, and the project team is awaiting final approval and a certificate of occupancy from the city planning department.
After receiving final approval, United Skates of America, the company that will operate Wheels, will take over final preparations, which is expected to take about four weeks, the department said.
The official grand opening date will be announced following this move-in period.
