She grew up here, attended Durham Public Schools and covered the city as a reporter for the News &amp; Observer.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5944\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5944\" style=\"width: 229px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-5944\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.duke.edu\/9thstreetjournal\/files\/2021\/11\/Alison-Jones-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"229\" height=\"344\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5944\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Alison Jones (Duke photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>She also knows Duke and our students. For the past six years she has worked as a senior writer for Duke\u2019s communications office, where she has written for a variety of university publications and helped students and faculty publish op-eds. She also knows the Sanford School of Public Policy from her two years at the Center for Child and Family Policy and her occasional work helping out with the Ways and Means podcast.<\/p>\n<p>In talking with Jones and reviewing her work, we were impressed with her meticulous editing and her thoughtful approach with student writers.
