{"id":492,"date":"2018-11-05T23:07:07","date_gmt":"2018-11-05T23:07:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/9thstreetjournal.org\/?p=492"},"modified":"2023-03-27T15:52:13","modified_gmt":"2023-03-27T15:52:13","slug":"durham-offering-free-bus-rides-to-vote-in-midterm-elections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/9thstreetjournal.org\/2018\/11\/05\/durham-offering-free-bus-rides-to-vote-in-midterm-elections\/","title":{"rendered":"Durham offering free bus rides to vote in midterm elections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Durham voters who still need to cast their ballots in Tuesday\u2019s elections can get a free bus ride to the polls. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For the second straight year, GoDurham buses will be free while the polls are open, from<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The fare-free service was supposed to be approved during a City Council meeting Monday night, but a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CityofDurhamNC\/status\/1059555611078221825\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">power outage<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> at City Hall postponed the meeting until Thursday. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">City Manager Thomas Bonfield told the 9th Street Journal that he approved the free service for Tuesday and the City Council will confirm it Thursday at his direction. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Durham voters who still need to cast their ballots in Tuesday\u2019s elections can get a free bus ride to the polls.
