More than a third of Durham’s elementary schools will participate in Walk and Roll to School events this month to promote sustainable travel and safe streets.<\/span><\/p>\n

The nationwide observance begins today, Oct. 9. Bike Durham, an organization that advocates for safe and affordable transportation, is partnering with DPS to organize and promote events at individual schools throughout the month.<\/span><\/p>\n

Several elementary schools are encouraging group walks or bike rides to school. These events typically begin between 7 a.m. and 7:15 a.m. to allow travel time to school. Four schools \u2014 Holt Elementary, Club Boulevard Elementary, Lakewood Elementary and Glenn Elementary \u2014\u00a0held their observances today.<\/span><\/p>\n
