The room was packed at Thursday afternoon\u2019s City Council work session: a masked woman held a sign reading \u201cGaza must live\u201d in green letters, a man wore a cape-like flag draped over his back that depicted the American and Israeli flags merging into one another, another woman sported a chain necklace with a dog tag that read \u201cpeace,\u201d followed by Hebrew letters.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
About 30 minutes into the meeting, the session reached item 46: a \u201cResolution Supporting an End to the Violence between Israel and Palestine.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
This wasn\u2019t the first time the council was hearing from Durhamites on the issue. Last Monday, a group of protestors entered the City Council meeting to demand a ceasefire in the region. The scene was belligerent \u2014 one woman stole an Israeli flag from another woman and \u201cdragged her across the floor,\u201d according to <\/span>WRAL News<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
