A very Durham festival

Story by Ana Young, photos by Maddie Wray

Where can you find a steampunk glasses, an aquamarine octopus hat and Tooth Beaver Ginsburg? Only at Durham’s Beaver Queen Festival, a fundraiser for the Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association.

The festival, now in its 18th year, drew hundreds to Duke Park on a recent Saturday for parades, food trucks and its trademark beaver-themed beauty pageant.

Reporter Ana Young and photographer Maddie Wray visited the Beaver Queen Festival and brought back a sampling of the sights and sounds from a quintessentially Bull City event.
